As most artists, I began sketching and painting at a very young age. When I was a teenager I took art lessons and was introducted to oil painting. My paintings won 'Best of Show' at our county fair and first place in another show. I was young and lacked the focus to become a serious artist. For several years, as time permitted, I painted and sketched, trying water colors, pastels and charcoals but only for short periods of time and always coming back to oil painting.
