Beauty is all around us, but we fail to notice. We marvel at the sunset at the beach but fail to notice the sensational sunsets at home. We miss the arch of bare limbs against the sky, the patterns of veins in a leaf, shadows cast by a table lamp. A child delights in her reflection in a spoon, but we have forgotten it. I want to be childlike in seeing the remarkable in the ordinary, and I want the viewer to be reminded of something they know, but be surprised that it is so interesting.
