David Morel is a fine art photographer based in Nashville, TN. He has been taking pictures since he was 5 years old and his father introduced him to photography. With no formal training, he has grown his art through part time employment as a photographer in college, participating in camera clubs, and attending photo workshops with nationally recognized photographers, including Joe DiMaggio and JoAnne Kalish. David has shown images in local shows and participated in competitions sponsored by various organizations. His work has been published in both local and national publications, including promotional campaigns for various companies.
2012 was a breakout year for David and his art. It began with acceptance into a portfolio review by the South Light Salon and participation in an exhibit at The Arts Company gallery in Nashville. He also completed a hands-on, personal workshop, with world renowned fine art photographer Jack Spencer. The year ended strong with 3 exhibits, one in Nashville at the Chromatics Upstairs Gallery, one in Los Angeles at Gallery 1650, and one in New York City at the La Maison d'Art Gallery.
This year continued even stronger with shows and awards for his work. He was selected as Best of Show in the exhibit “Jasmine and Joe” at the Marnie Sheridan Gallery in Nashville, TN and was selected for the Director’s award at the ASmith Gallery’s exhibit “Sports”, in Johnson City, TX. David had images in group shows with the Society of Nashville Artistic Photographers, Black Box Gallery, and the Wilmington Arts Association where his image was awarded 3rd Place. David was one of 6 artists featured in a Blog Post on Lenscratch and he has a selection of images in the summer issue of Stone Voices art magazine. Most recently, he had 2 images in an exhibit/auction at Gallery One in Nashville, TN.
