I am an illustrator, designer, painter, visionary, and creator of cool stuff!
I have begun a journey into the world of meditation and the mind; my artwork draws from this newfound peace and fulfillment with the world and nature and myself. As I venture through the readings and scripts I have amassed, I plan to document this with my art. Please join me on this journey as I work through meditation and the seven chakras opening to find enlightenment and true awakening.
A little history about me; I was born in Washington, D.C. and have continued to live and work in the surrounding cities and suburbs of D.C. for most of my life. I attended a visual and performing arts high school, which trained students in classical art history, color theory, design, perspective, and even photography. I then set my sights on attending and graduating from the University of Maryland College Park with a degree in Studio Arts with an emphasis in mixed media. During my undergraduate work I apprenticed under a well-known sculptor and sharpened my skills as a sculptor in bronze, steel, and wood. I also learned what it meant to be an artist and how critically important craftsmanship and attention to detail is to fine artists.
I have been a regular participant in gallery shows, appeared in stores, and group co-ops in Washington, D.C. for years, I have transitioned my fine art talents into a lithography career as a desktop publisher. At this high-volume printing company, I worked on my career and began to discover a love for technology and typography. As a scanner and prepress operator, I enjoyed the ability to manipulate photos and designs with programs like Photoshop, InDesign, and my personal favorite Illustrator. I am fascinated with creating new and exciting things on the computer; It has opened many new doors to explore. I have found new ways to express myself by combining these two areas of my life. I use software as a tool to help create designs that inspire paintings. I also enjoy seeing projects I work on for clients such as Verizon, AT&T, and Marriott being printed on large Heidelberg presses in the thousands. The merging of technology and my art has allowed me to become extremely self-expressive, which helped me transition into my current graphic design position. I have been working in the print arena for over 15 years and web related materials for almost 10 years now. I am always looking to expand my knowledge on all things art. I feel social media networks are the next step. I completed a masters certification program for social media managers in 2015 and have begun to explore how this new venture will impact my career.
I volunteer for Run 4 Shelter, which was established in 2009, a running event that has raised over $100,000 for Our Haven Shelter. Our Haven is a non-profit, faith-based organization comprised of local church leaders committed to making a difference. Our Haven's mission is to help support the fight against Homelessness in Queen Anne's County, Maryland To learn more about this cause please visit: www.run4shelter.net
