South African born Edgar Pretorius was born in Cape Town, in the Western Cape on the 2nd May 1983 and later moved to the Eastern Cape at the age of five. He received formal training during his schooling years at the Russell Road College Art Centre, under the guidance of Mrs. Rene Brisley. It was during that time that he was awarded the prestigious Santam Child Art World Award.
