Paul Cezanne was a French, Post-Impressionistic painter who lived from January 19, 1839 to October 22 1906. His style is said to have opened the door and paved the way for several other greats, such as Matisse and Picasso. Noted for his use of single-point perspective, he was most interested in creating art which would simplify naturally occurring forms into their "geometric essentials."
