Gary Wing was born in western Montana and as a child he enjoyed roaming the Rocky Mountains on foot or on horseback. In 1959 his family moved to Redmond, Oregon and he developed a love for the high desert and the Cascade Mountains. Graduating from Redmond High in 1964 he went on to Oregon State University and then worked as a ranch manager and wildlife biologist with the Federal government. Retiring in 2011, he returned to photography which he developed a love for in the early 70’s but could never seem to find time for. His photos have been featured on the cover of Bee Culture Magazine, in Range Magazine, and the 2010 book Capture Central Oregon. He recently had a showing at Smith Rock State Park. He has also shown at the Redmond Library, St Charles Hospital, Juniper Brewery and has his work displayed at Circle of Friends Gallery in Tumalo Oregon between Bend and Sisters.
Gary resides on twenty acres in northwest Redmond with his wife, Barbara and his English Springer dog “Peppy”. He has two grown children Eli and Katie. They raise grass fed beef and have chickens and honeybees. Besides enjoying photography Gary likes to fish and hunt and enjoy the great outdoors that the state of Oregon provides. His favorite subjects are birds, landscape and macro photography.
He also frames all his own work, mostly with recycled wood, if you would be interested in ordering one of his custom framed prints please contact him for prices. All work sold through him are signed and limited editions.
