George Harth lives in Medina, OH, and spends the winters painting in Bonita Springs, FL. He began painting watercolors during high school in Leavenworth, Kansas. George started developing his love of art, at the age of thirteen, while taking private drawing lessons. He grew into watercolor painting and experienced early success. At the age of fifteen, George placed first in the Leavenworth Annual Art Exhibit of 1960.

George has been called a Renaissance Man by many of his acquaintances because of his many interests and talents which include writing, photography, painting, and an occasional invention. His work has been exhibited at the Canton Museum of Art, the Mansfield Art Center, Medina Art-in-the-Park, Bonita Arts Florida, and in many one person art shows throughout Ohio. His work is in numerous private collections around the world (especially Scotland and Germany).

George is a long standing member of the Medina County Art League. His paintings have been accepted many times for the juried Ohio Watercolor Society Annual Exhibitions He is a Full Signature Member of the Ohio Watercolor Society.

George began painting with pure transparent watercolor media in a representational fashion. Later he broadened his interests to include digital art, oil, and acrylic painting His paintings don't hide on the wall, they become part of the conversation.

Following the lead of artists such as the French Impressionist, Edgar Degas, George has been developing the unusual use of pastel accents over either watercolor, acrylic, or oil underpaintings. He uses the intensity and transparency of pastel chalk to dramatically heighten the impact of his paintings in just the same way that Degas painted his famous ballerina paintings.

George has also invented or developed a new art style that flows from traditional Chinese art. He uses the traditional motifs present in traditional Chinese art, but he introduces the use of modern digital techniques to create a more modern and more dramatic appearance. He calls this art style 'Nouveau Chinese Art'. He combines digital photography of birds and flowers with images of scenes typical of traditional Chinese art, such as graceful mountains and streams.
