Gordon Fritz has been in the Low Country and Coastal South Carolina for most of his life. He
has become a part of the landscape that surrounds him. As a graduate biologist from the
University of South Carolina, he has worked in several fields where he has put his appreciation
for our environment and his skillful photographic talents to good use. First as an assessor of
the coastal environments, then teaching, on to publishing and real estate development and sales,
to artist. The camera has always been around his neck. “It’s like I was always the photographer
first”, he says.

The evolution of film-based photography into digital photography has vastly changed what can be
part of the photographer’s body of work. Gordon’s photography started in Myrtle Beach, South
Carolina where he was raised. It further developed while he was serving in Vietnam and then
attending college where he helped to protect what was to become The Congaree National Park.
Later, he used it as a remote sensing tool to assess environments destined for development along
the coast of South Carolina in efforts to minimize the impacts of such activities. Several
years ago, he was involved in hybridizing daylilies to create and market new cultivars. He
found that his interest was in photographing the new lilies, not marketing them. He has
developed this interest into his current efforts -that of creating and marketing fine art
digital prints of his captivating sea island environment.

Gordon lives on the Coosaw River, with his family, at the edge of the ACE Basin, a 350,000-acre
composite of wild and un-impacted marshlands, located between Beaufort and Charleston, South
Carolina. It is here that he captures many of his images. It is here where you will find him
in his garden, forest or salt marsh often tending his chickens or creating his digital prints. SEAISLANDPRINTS.COM

THESE IMAGES ARE NO LONGER PHOTOGRAPHS. THEY HAVE BEEN MODIFIED INTO FINE ART PRINTS SIMILAR TO WET PAINT CREATIONS. THIS IS MADE POSSIBLE BY THE ADVENT OF THE DIGITAL PROCESS WHICH ALLOW THE PHOTOGRAPHER TO USE MORE OF HIS CREATIVE SKILLS THAN IS POSSIBLE WITH THE PHOTOGRAPH PROCESS.

Gordon Fritz joined Fine Art America on July 3rd, 2014.
