Artist Donates Artwork to Veterans Hospital and Promotes African American Identity

Tulare, CA - November 21st, 2007

To honor the commitment and sacrifice of our active members and veterans of military service, Howard Stroman has dedicated a canvas painting to the Geriatric Extended Care Unit (GECU) of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Central California Health Care System, in Fresno, California. The 24"X36" canvas artwork shows the mountainous area of the Sequoia National Park with a lone tree, devoid of foliage, standing erect in the foreground, amidst rising greenery of smaller trees destined to replace it. The composition, which mirrors the geological environment of the surrounding Central California area where the artist works and lives, is meant to offer symbolism, particularly to fallen men and women veterans who pave the way for the greatness we share as a nation.
