Jay Strong is a North American Abstract Artist from Birmingham, Alabama whose unique art creations convey his love of architecture, landscapes and music. Most of his paintings are characterized by heavy texture and extensive use of metallics. He began drawing landscapes and house plans in early childhood and is a self-taught artist. In addition to painting, he continues to design interior and exterior plans for residential renovations and new construction. His fascination with line and form as well as an eye for color has influenced and is evident in every design and painting. His favorite artists are Osnat Tzadok, Cody Hooper, Steven DaLuz and Gregory Morss. Jay is also a self-taught classical pianist who plays by ear and composed his first piece at the age of six. His favorite musical influences include composers Isidor Philipp, Ernesto Lecuona, Richard Addinsell and Chopin.
Personal Statement: As an abstract artist, I strive to create paintings which will evoke a personal stimulus to the viewer and entice them to re-explore at every glance. Although my primary inspirations include architecture and music, most of my paintings are a juxtaposition to that order and precision. I use a variety of expected mediums as well as many unconventional ones and have a particular fondness for reds and golds. My subjects range from simple and complex abstracts to religious imagery, with all credit and inspiration coming from Jesus. I am an avid supporter of the Susan G. Komen (Cancer Awareness Organization), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Autism Society of Alabama, the International Fund for Animal Welfare and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. My paintings are often available in fund raising auctions for some of these organizations.
Some of my original paintings can be viewed or purchased at the Daniel Day Gallery / Dream Mecca Studio located at:
