I've always been a traditional photographer, but sometimes an image just doesn't play well as a photo - perhaps because a photo is too realistic. This is the problem I had with one of my photographs of the Merry-go-round at Lakeside amusement park, so for a long time I never did anything with that image. Recently I decided to give the image another shot, and after a lot of experimenting with digital filters I, I came up with a new look that I am very pleased with. The new style gives the photograph an illustrated poster type of feel, blended with a watercoloring look, but backed by the realistic proportions and lighting of the original photograph. The close up detail of the image is my favorite part, and almost has a "paint by number" type of look.
