Kitchen Icons Take Over The Runway At Hat City Kitchen

Artist, Jennie Traill Schaeffer, owner of TraillWorks: Studio on the 3rd Floor, is currently exhibiting her work, Red Carpet Icons, at Hat City Kitchen’s Orbital Gallery through early March. The exhibit marks her first solo show since closing her Sussex County gallery in 2013 and relocating to West Orange. Jennie will be present on Monday, February 8th, from 6 – 8pm for a closing reception during the monthly Valley Arts Artist Salon to talk about her work. When you walk into the main dining room at Hat City Kitchen your eye is tickled by colorful, reflective surfaces unified by fields of cadmium red. Many of the works feature kitchen appliances, including several Crock Pots, a toaster, and espresso machine, along with a few baked goods and "thrones" of the home. West Orange, NJ – Artist, Jennie Traill Schaeffer, owner of TraillWorks: Studio on the 3rd Floor, is included in Syracuse University’s Painting Alumni Retrospective, on exhibit now through January 3rd at 914Works. Her work is on display with BFA painting undergraduates from the past 50 years. The breadth and diversity of the Painting Alumni Retrospective stands as evidence of the Syracuse University’s lasting impact on American culture since it became the first institution in the United States to offer a bachelor of fine arts degree 140 years ago. The exhibition includes small works by 21 alumni of the undergraduate painting program from the Class of 1959 to the Class of 2014. The exhibition shows the evolution of painting over a half century, from action painting to conceptual, post-conceptual, representational, interdisciplinary and contemporary works.
