My focus is to create vivid historical portraits of American Indians and expressive images of animals in a realistic style. I believe that the face is the most rewarding subject to paint, and using this medium I am able to combine both an appreciation for history and a love of nature. I work on suede mat board, instead of the traditional heavyweight paper. The velour gives the paintings a distinctive smooth appearance and provides a stronger, more adherent surface for the chalk.
