My name is Jess-o (Jessica Brown). I live in the and work in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and also spent much of my youth in Maine. I work mainly in acrylic painting as well as mixed media. The name Jess-o is a play on gesso, a primer used to prepare surfaces for painting or other finishes. I use gesso, and black gesso in particular, to prime everything from canvas to clay, paper mache, rocks, Styrofoam, and anything else that can be made into art.
