John Martin is a native of the Hudson Valley / Catskill Mountains of NY State. He studied and apprenticed with Philip Guston among other NY City Artist at the Art Students League. In conjunction with the Woodstock School of Art where he also taught painting & life drawing. He has held residency teaching positions in NY City, Ireland, Mexico, and Costa Rica. Conceptually he uses drawing as a fundamental tool combining it with color, form and texture to express his unique vision.
