JoAnne Castelli-Castor was born into a family of artists and has been drawing and painting since she was a teenager. She has recently traced her heritage back to 1507 to the ceramic artisans of the town of Castelli in Italy. She works in her New Jersey studio and has done many portraits and various other commissioned projects. A major part of her work is a group of paintings she calls 'Global Emergence of the Feminine Energy'. Portraits

As a portrait artist, I find nothing as interesting as the terrain of the human face. The most subtle of expressions can be shown with the slightest hint of tint or glaze. The sparkle in the eye, the dimple in a cheek, the strength of the jaw and the blush on the cheek all make for a masterpiece that gets passed down forever.
