John Paul Schafer is a talented, self-taught painter, illustrator and graphic designer with more than twenty years of professional experience. He was born in 1970 in Independence, Iowa, and graduated from Independence High School in 1989. In 1990, after a stint in college, Schafer began teaching himself painting in a studio loft above Main Street in his hometown.
