Judith Lauter, poet, photographer, and neuroscientist, was born in Austin TX, a second-generation Texan. Her father wrote an outdoors column for the Austin American-Statesman, and owned a photography studio in downtown Austin. Photography was a large part of Judy's life from childhood, beginning with black-and-white pictures, and moving into color photography, including 35 mm slides.
