Cold and snowy in Montana. My creative work fluctuates between winter scenes I'm taking right now, and summery floral pictures that I have in my archives. Tossing in a bit of digital painting, too.
I've fiddled with a camera since the early 1970s and began taking rural event and domestic animal pictures in the 1980s. When I was a professional rodeo photographer, one of the rodeo producers asked if I could design/write/produce a program for the upcoming season. He knew I wrote articles for the rodeo magazine and had published books. I said sure, although I had never done anything like that before.
I completed the project, learned a lot in the process, and became enamored of graphic and computer arts. Since then, along with photography, I've produced books and book covers for authors around the U.S. and for my own books, too. (Visit the 'Graphic Arts and Commissioned Works' collection for business images.) Computer arts account for many of my images, and I blend digital work with some of my photography.
My photos have been used ORION Magazine, American Cowboy, Royal Wings (an international in-flight magazine), Bloodlines, Pro Rodeo World (along with articles), and others.
Invitational art shows in which I've participated include Lincoln Art in the Park (Lincoln, MT), Depot Festival of Art (Livingston, MT), Madison Valley Arts Festival (Ennis, MT), Big Sky Art and Craft Shows (Helena, MT). Recent exhibits include, THIS IS HELENA (Helena, MT), Boulder Hot Springs and Conference Center (Boulder, MT), The Myrna Loy Center for Visual Arts (Helena, MT), D A Davidson office suites (Helena, MT). Ongoing representation is provided through Genesis Frame Shop and Gallery, Helena, Montana.
