Karen Copley earned two degrees in graphic design and communications in her native North Carolina and has been working in the commercial side of the arts all of her adult life. She has worked as a graphic designer, photographer, copy writer and creative director. An avid outdoors woman, her passion is kayaking, skiing, wildlife and nature. Alaska captured her and her husband while on vacation and never released them. They decided to take a chance, sold their house and made the move north. Painting has always been a pleasure and escape from the deadlines of her publications career. 'When you are able to create and paint subjects that excite your heart without restriction or constraints, you become the process of your own creativity.' After raising a daughter to college and building a cabin with her husband in the spectacular Alaskan landscape, she is settling in to enjoy her art and future retirement on her palekaiko aina in Hawaii. 'To create is to live in true freedom.'
Karen Copley joined Fine Art America on January 21st, 2011.
