Born in 1957 in Styria, Austria, Karl early discovered his love for the arts. Inspired by the works of artists such as Diego Velázquez or Giorgio de Chirico, he began to teach himself the basics of painting at a young age. During the '80s and '90s he professionally built backdrops for a wide range of customers like theaters, trade fairs, shopping centers and photographers. While being affiliated with Kodak for many years, Karl distributed his works to photographers all around Central Europe and built himself a strong reputation as an artist.
