I am drawn to vivid colors and dynamic rhythms. Through my art I explore compassion, boldness, and inspiration. My hope is that the viewers will feel those soul qualities stirred within their hearts.
I love to use the element of surprise. I like to keep the viewers searching for more half-hidden words and small objects embedded in some of my paintings.
I use acrylic paint as well as pastels, charcoal pencils, found items, torn paper, shards of CD's, and bits of metal. Some of my influences have been Peter Max, Jackson Pollock, and Walasse Ting.
My Master's degrees in music and photography taught me about creative composition and harmony. In 2005, after owning a photography studio for 25 years, I decided to go back to my childhood roots of art and writing. I have studied with Justine Mantor-Waldie who taught me how to have fun with oil pastels, Susan Falcon-Hargraves, who taught me more about color and courage, and Penny Benjamin Peterson, who showed me layering, glazing, and scratching.
Collectors include corporations such as the Arizona Heart Institute, and private collectors around the nation.
I seek to unite with the love that underlies everything and bring that to my canvases.
