Inspired by nature, I create Quilt Art collages in an abstract improvisational style using a variety of fabrics, threads, and embellishments. Unlike traditional quilts; I piece, applique and embroider directly on a layered foundation of quilt batting or fabrics which results in immediate dimensionality. Many of the textile collages I create are influenced by the style of Asian art displayed in the sacred center of a traditional Japanese home, Tokonoma alcoves.
