I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. Abbie's Challenges Edit This

These art pieces are part Abbie Shores and part mine, for challenges called "Edit This" on the Fine Art America website. Abbie Shores is a moderator on the Fine Art America website and often posts her challenges in discussion threads. These pieces are a challenge for me as the subjects are, by and large, nothing I would usually render. When a painting of a girl holding a cell phone comes up, I can't work in my usual style, and must adapt to a more contemporary style, for instance. It gets me outside of my own box, and sometimes forces me to look at tools and perspectives in a whole new way.
