On retiring as a pharmacist in 2000, I was inspired to start art lessons with Estelle Hartley.   Being a complete novice I found a new world opening up to me as I was guided through the magic of oils, acrylics and watercolour.   I love colour.   This is my inspiration.   I prefer the more impressionistic approach and when painting am enthralled by what the painting dictates as I go along.   My favourite quotation is by Edgar Whitney: 'Exactly right, is all wrong.'
