Louis Maistros is a longtime resident of the New Orleans 8th Ward neighborhood. Primarily a writer, he is the author of the acclaimed New Orleans literary novel, 'The Sound of Building Coffins,' of which Peter Straub has said, 'Louis Maistros has written a lyrical, complex, and brave novel that takes enormous risks and pulls them all off. He is a writer to watch and keep reading, a writer to cherish.' He is also an accomplished art photographer, and has been called 'a wizard with light, shadows, and colors' by Louisiana Poet Laureate Julie Kane. His photography has appeared in the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Bayou Magazine, Entrepot Literary Magazine and others, as well as having been used for book covers by several New Orleans authors and publishers.
