LuÃs Parreira is a figurative artist from Terceira Island. He has a degree in computer science and has been an autodidact in arts since his earliest youth.
Painting came up in his life almost as a physiological need, of self-expression and self-realization.
His artistic career went through two different moments. Firstly, he began exploring portraits, using charcoal and soft pastel, always trying to obtain the
most realistic representation possible. Then, as time went by, he started feeling the need to express not only what he saw, but also what he felt and imagined. Currently, his work has a strong imaginative component, combining Renaissance and Baroque classical techniques with Pop Surrealism, bringing enigmatic figures to life, merging beauty and fashion, with classicism and modernity.
LuÃs is mainly influenced by female beauty, fashion, fantasy, cinema and, unconsciously, by his origins. Therefore, it is possible to find anatomical
similarities between his family and the paintings.
