Mark VanDyke is an outdoor freelance photographer focusing on the Appalachian Mountains and Atlantic Coastlines. His work attempts to respect the natural world through honest representation of place, often during moments of exceptional atmospheric conditions.
Outdoor Photography is a very physical, experiential way of creating that is simply addictive as hell to me personally! I canít seem to get enough of it. I long for the next trip and the next frame and the next opportunity: the feeling of settling into nature's rhythms, the anticipation and the contentment when I find and execute a meaningful frame. Outdoor Photography has allowed me to combine a love for physical movement and wild places with a need to be creative and expressive.
Whether itís in the cold waters of a mountain stream, on the rugged crest of an Appalachian mountain, or standing in the rhythmic surf of a southern coastline, out ďthereĒ is where Iím at my best. Out there is where I want to be. I do it because I love it. The reward for me is experiencing the many things a landscape photographer goes through to capture the natural world when environmental conditions are at their most dynamic. I really appreciate your visit and regardless of whether you decide to purchase anything from me, I do hope that you find images here that inspire you to get outside and enjoy your surroundings. Come back as often as you like--the invitation is open!
