As a calligrapher, I became interested in making 'illuminations' which are scriptural texts painted with metallic gold inks. These verses when written upon our hearts reflect God's spirit and light in the world. The commissioned work that followed led me to incorporate iconographic images, from early Christian art, as somewhat of a reclamation of my own faith in Christ. The chalk murals are continuous narratives telling the biblical stories following the liturgical calendar. Early Christians did not all read and write, so biblical stories could be taught and understood through images. Even young children can visually read the stories by finding things they recognize in the images. The series of murals begins with Creation and ends with the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
