I've always been fascinated by mythology & fairy tales, which grew into a love of all things fantastical, including science fiction. Im also fascinated by the gorgeous, intricate sand mandalas created by Tibetan monks, only to brush them away and start over again the next day. I also love kaleidoscopes, fractals, geometry, spirals, and nature.
In 2013, I started working with colored pencils. One day, while relaxing with an adult coloring book that had a space theme, it suddenly occurred to me to take my love of mythology, science fiction, fantasy, and gaming and combine it with my love of geometric patterns with intricate detail and colors - and Tangitude Artworks was born.
For my mandalas, my work takes themes from nature, books, myths, legends, TV shows and movies, incorporating symbols from those stories into a colorful abstract design - when viewed at a distance. In order to find the meaning, you have to study the piece, get close to see the individual symbols and find subtle nuances I work into each design.
In 2019, I started working on my designs digitally as well as with physical medium. This led to a new style of 'celestial' artwork. I created galaxy designs, which then became a background canvas, to which I add both digital and scanned hand drawn elements for an intensely colorful finished piece. These include my custom 'Circular Gallifreyan' word art pieces. If you are interested in a custom piece with your name or other phrase, contact me!
