Michael Smith-Sardior is a second generation Arizona native who has lived in Flagstaff since 1994.

His initial formal training in a variety of visual media took place at Glendale Community College in the '70s, and continues today via classroom, workshops, and independent studies. His skill in photography, while largely self-taught, is solidly based in traditional tenets of composition, and further honed by freelance work in advertising and publishing.

Michael's subject matter ranges from sacred places to lunar cycles; from portraits of people and animals to studies of insects and plants; from celebrations of light and beauty to lamentations of enslavement.

As an accomplished artist fuses life and work, a unique style emerges. For Michael this has been a decades-long journey of spiritual exploration and study, personal loss and self-discovery. He is a student of Shamanism, a gardener, mentor, musician, and photographer. He lives modestly in a small home with family, cats, a homemade greenhouse, and several current projects. Michael corresponds with friends around the world, enjoying their company and learning how to better portray the universal concepts depicted in his photos.

Michael Smith-Sardior joined Fine Art America on November 8th, 2010.
