Mike Mitch was born and raised in the American Midwest. He earned a BFA in painting and lithography and an MFA in painting. After graduation, he switched from painting to making boxed constructions, inspired by the work of Joseph Cornell. Periodically, he returns to painting, in a range of styles. One series entitled “Saints and Sinners” was done in a faux naive style, honors the spirit of jazz and blues legends.
