As a child, I longed to be an artist. Having been raised in a family of singers and musicians, I gained an appreciation for all of the arts. I attended Principia College in Elsah, Illinois, where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, both Studio and Art History. During my senior year, I studied art, architecture, and sculpture via the great masterpieces in England, France, Holland, Germany, and Italy.

Loving to draw and loving color, pastels turned out to be in perfect harmony with my work in landscapes, still life’s and animal portraits. I have taken workshops with Doug Dawson, AWS, PSA, Terry Ludwig, creator of Terry Ludwig Pastels, and Charles Peer of Siloam Springs. I was a signature member of the Ozark Pastel Society, a group of pastel artists in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas. During that time I entered competitions and won many awards. And I served seven years on the Arkansas Arts Council, appointed by then governor Mike Huckabee.

I like to capture that moment when the light is revealing something you didn’t see five minutes before, perhaps more depth in a shadow, or a different color or perspective. I look for the sparkle in ordinary scenes and attempt to recreate it. God’s creation is all around us and there is nothing ordinary about it. I strive to see the extra-ordinary, and that is what I hope comes across in my paintings.

My husband and I now live in a beautiful small town in East Texas, called Winnsboro, known for its lovely pine trees, rolling hills, and dairy farms.
