I was born in Pakistan 1964. My interest in art was sparked at a very early age. In fact, I was only nine years old when I sketched H. H. The Aga Khan lll, and entered my first art competition when I was ten. After graduating from college, I worked as a graphic designer at Asiatic Advertising in Karachi where I was introduced to watercolor, oil paint, and palette knife techniques by friends who were artists in attendance at the Fine Art Institute in Karachi.
In 1983, I held my first exhibition in Karachi. Since then, I have created many commissioned art works in all different sizes for commercial and home use.
Next in 1984, I immigrated to the US where I now reside in Houston, Texas. I currently concentrate on Islamic art, calligraphy, portraits in oil, and watercolor.
My imminent desire is to interact with the viewer through my art. Quranic verses have been the focal devotion throughout my artistic career. The Arabic fonts lit the inner love and gratitude for the designer and its creation all around me. I always wanted to put them in a different language then the words of any linguistic art. Such elements ignited the flame of Art in my inner soul.
My other interests were to bring out the human feelings when Quranic verses are recited. The emotions of relaxation and soothing silence when praying would bring my canvas to life.
By swotting and eyeing Rembrandt, Guljee, Michael Angelo, and Leonardo da Vinci, I establish the inner radical flow of love for art inside myself. It would not be wrong if you call them my educators. The time expended in Art Council Pakistan actually fetched the inner aptitude and passion for colors, and that passion later on turned into the ability of expression, of love, for the spiritual being.
My art has always been like a third eye, the eye for colors, patterns, calligraphy, and intricate designs. By putting all these things together, I dream up the lush curtain of silk that I mask over my canvas to share with the world.
