Patsy Kitcher Walton
Texas Colorist Impressionist Painter
My love affair with nature began when I was a small child
living on an east Texas farm.
Everywhere I looked I saw God's great creation surrounding me.
I fell in love with all the farm animals, the flowers,
the cotton bolls, the woods, the creeks, and the freedom to explore
them all. In these I saw God's handiwork and His creativity,
as well as His sense of humor,
order, playfulness, and symmetry.
My love of drawing began in the sandy soil of that farm, when I spent
hours and hours trying to recreate what I dreamed of. It has naturally
progressed and I have loved incorporating my still improving skills into
designing our home, practicing an interior design business, and through painting.
'I have experimented with different styles of painting,
but I find I favor a painterly approach,
in which a recognizable form is achieved,
while at the same time
the paint and color itself is celebrated.
The brushstrokes themselves are not only visible,
but intrinsic to the success of the piece.
is the style that best expresses how I view the world.
An added bonus to my work is that
I am able to revisit many wonderful places
which I have been blessed to actually experience.
And...if by chance through my paintings,
I can inspire you to dare to discover and create more beauty in your life,
then that is the icing on the cake for me.'
I love what the great Michaelangelo said:
If people knew how hard I worked to get my mastery,
it wouldnt seem so wonderful at all.
It has been my delight to have studied with many select masters, including
Dreama Tolle Perry, George Hallmark, Qiang Huang, Scott Myers, Betty Carr and Judi Betts.
This love affair has been going on for over 35 years.
My paintings have found new homes
in private residences and commercial collections all over the USA,
from California to New York.
