“The Artist does not see things as they are, but as he is.” - Alfred Tonnelle

Art is not merely a “pretty picture.” It is the soul of the artist, his passion. It is this passion that 'Satch' tries to communicate with the viewer, of that special sense of place and time. He hopes that his work will touch a place in his or her mind and heart, that a passion is aroused, a sense of awareness is stirred, and ultimately, that the viewer experiences the emotions that went into producing each painting.

His American Indians Galleries reflect Satch's reverence for the 19th century Native Americans of this country. They were an extraordinary, spiritual, proud people who endured hardships and struggles while losing their land and hunting rights as a result of the lies and broken promises of the white man. Their stoic expressions inspire him, telling stories of sadness, anger, perseverance and loss, as well as a strong sense of pride.

Satch had been interviewed regarding his Blues Legends Gallery on blues.gr and can be viewed on: blues.gr/profiles/blogs/visual-artist-paul-satch-sachtleben-talks-about-the-blues-legends.
