Although I took art classes in high school and college, I did not really begin painting until I left military service in 1985. Since then I have discovered that I paint in sporadic periods based upon location, time, and life. By 1996 I shifted gears into photography because it was more easily controlled, and for me, less obsessive. For me, photography is easier to contained in blocks of time than painting where I often look up to find that it is 4 AM in the morning and almost time to begin a commute.
