Local Myrtle Beach Accomplished Artist Phil Burton,
Bio of Phil Burton
I have always had an interest in the expression of Art; oil is my medium of choice. Although I think in terms of freedom and artistic license; I adhere to a limited palette as a challenge to color mixture and purity of color, (I basically use the same color palette for all paintings). I subscribe to the color theory of Earth, Water, Air and Fire as inspiration in my paintings. I have no formal training I am developing I surmise, “my own style and feel.” I’m currently studying and collaborating with local Artisans such as respected artist Linda Weatherspoon and Danny McLaughlin and others to further my art and style,
My mentor was renowned Artist Jim Horton, I am a founding member of the Jim Horton Memorial Painting Association. My Art has been exhibited in the hottest and latest Art Venue ART BURGER SUSHI in Myrtle Beach, SC. ART BURGER SUSHI supports local Artisans currently, I am a featured Artist there as well, Recently two of my works were chosen to be auctioned by the Chamber of Commerce to go to a relief fund for local flood victims, I'm honored and humbled to be part of such a worthy cause. My original art can be found in various design houses throughout the Myrtle Beach Area.
I am humbled and honored at the same time; now that my works are being sought after and collected.
My Gullah Painting was chosen by Savannah River Boat Company for their Gullah Heritage Dinner Entertainment Cruise Art and Brochure.
I have various influences although I gravitate towards Impressionist, Italian Renaissance as well as the Romantic period paintings. I think of my style as loose and free, I work from rough composition for the sake of freedom and artistic restraint. I hope to convey this freedom and expression in my Art all the while capturing the essence of subject and matter. Please feel free to contact Phil Burton at:
