I reside in southern Indiana and have been painting since the early 70's. I primarily paint with oils due to the longer drying time. I enjoy the outdoors and this serves as an inspiration. I tend to paint in two distinct styles depending on my mood. On the one hand I enjoy very subdued paintings that at the turn of the 20th century would have been labeled Tonalism and the poetic feel that they invoke. I also like fresh, direct and sketchy paintings executed with only a painting knife. You will see both styles. I use a very limited pallet of colors in both instances. The knife paintings are executed very quickly whereas the paintings done in the Tonalist style are completed over several days. In the end, I paint for my own enjoyment but am always pleased when a work brings enjoyment to others. Please enjoy.
