A native Oregonian, Richard was raised in Portland, Oregon. He received a Bachelor of Science from Portland State University and a Master of Arts from Lewis and Clark College. He began a career as a high school science teacher, later moving to curriculum specialist and finally to graduate level college instructor.
Throughout an honored professional career, Richard sought to infuse his love of writing with an equal love of the artistry in photography. He began writing poetry 30 years ago as a way to better understand and bring new insight to life. He works to capture the essence of his writing by blending unique images with poems thereby creating a synergistic reinforcement of two diverse mediums.
Richard believes that poetry is truly a visual medium, displaying textual composition similar in many ways to photography. Poetry creates a picture in the mind coupled with a vast array of the colors of our emotions, experiences, and essence of being. “Voices from the Void”© is his most current volume of poems published by Radon Press. Another book of poems is nearing completion.
Richard Donin joined Fine Art America on September 24th, 2012.
