Cruising Van Nuys Boulevard Vanished
A large enduring collection of black & white photographs of the people, the cars, the motorcycles, the restaurants and roadside attractions along Van Nuys Boulevard. Symbols and traces, spirits and faces...I never would have thought it would all vanish before the end of the 1970s. Most of these pictures were made on Wednesday nights, also known as 'Cruise Night' by everyone involved. All images are made with a hand-held 35mm camera using Kodak Tri-X Film. I grew up enjoying the fun on Van Nuys Boulevard during the 1960s. Many of these images define a world of modern visual advertising woven into the actual architecture of the street. These photographs stand alone as powerful pieces of art, they look absolutely wonderful when they are properly matted and framed, and now that I have brought them out for display after forty years, I do expect they will increase in value.
