I work in watercolor, acrylic and oil - choosing the medium based on the subject or the special effect I wish to produce. I enjoy the process of putting paint to paper. The finished painting comes from manipulating the medium until the work 'speaks to me' or I am happy with the result. Many of my paintings are done with watercolor on Yupo, a smooth synthetic paper. This surface allows the paint to flow freely or to be layered or lifted off creating distinctive effects.
Although my paintings are based on the natural world it is not my desire to copy nature. I like to add my own interpretation based on my feelings at the time. My goal is to create a work of art that others enjoy looking at as much as I enjoy producing it.
