I am an artist, photographer, author, filmmaker, and composer. ...Not necessarily in that order :-)
As an artist, I work in calligraphy with ink on paper and with paint: acrylic and oil. I focus my paintings upon expressing my interpretation of forms and objects in an abstract, color dominate, manner. In terms of my photography, I attempt to capture and harness the uniqueness of a particular object, which hopefully will then cause the viewer to be drawn into the photograph to the point that they want to deeply study its subtle complexities.
In the other areas of my life I have authored numerous books on the subjects of the Martial Arts, Zen Buddhism, Yoga, Social Science, Poetry, and Literature. Many of these books have been translated into various languages and are available across the globe. I have also had a number of books of photography published that focus on a specific geographical region.
As a filmmaker, back in 1991, I created a new style of filmmaking that I titled, Zen Filmmaking. In essence, the primary premise behind Zen Filmmaking is that no screenplay should be used in the creation of a film. Instead, the filmmaker should allow the spontaneous creative energy of the moment to be the only guide in the filmmaking process.
In a nutshell that's me. If you want more information you can always stop by my main website, scottshaw.com.
