Shelley Graham Turner believes that art should wake up your spirit. She says that working in vibrant color and lots of texture does just that for her.
Though most of her past art experience was in ceramic and glass mosaics, Shelley found that her real passion is creating mixed media art. She says it allows her to create intuitively and with freedom of expression; to combine many mediums and techniques, and work on various substrates. Her favorite style is abstract expressionism; her favorite artist being Franz Kline. Shelley’s go-to supplies are acrylics, inks, crayons and pastels. Loving texture and dimension she says that the more layers the happier she is! Her pieces are created using traditional techniques such as collage, and she also she uses more non-traditional methods, such as mono-printing and encaustic art.
She believes everyone has an artist inside them and she gets a thrill from helping others discover and develop their artistic talents. It's her wish to be able to encourage and inspire others.
