I had an early passion for art, being it drawing or painting, and received some encouragement from my high school art teachers. Making art was a transforming experience. Being 'in the zone' of the creative process was an outlet. As my inventory of paintings grew I would be at the neighborhood street shows. If a restaurant would let me exhibit art in their dining room, I would hang it. If I couldn't find a gallery to take my work, well, I'll open my own! I have had all of those opportunities over the years. What I didn't have was formal art training. I have spent my years learning and exploring the works of old masters and new in impressionism and realism. This study helped me develop varying styles depending on the mood and subject matter I was trying to express. My portfolio looks like it was compiled by many different artists because my earliest desire was to become a commercial artist. As it turned out, I had many 'real' jobs outside of the art world all the while honing my real passion for painting and pastels. Weekends and evenings would be my studio time or in the wee hours before leaving for the job. In the 1990s I finally broke out on my own and opened my business: Studio Works Art Glass in Luck, WI. There I designed and created a wholesale line of stained glass giftware and ran multiple retail stores. My dream of having a showcase gallery for my art came true. After 9/11 the retail world of business changed in the world and at the same time my husband and I were blessed with the chance to move to Pepin, WI, to a place we dreamed of for years. We call our piece of heaven, Catfish Corner, and it has been one of my many muses.

I haven't been involved in many art competitions, but my first entry in 2013 was juried into the Arts West 34 exhibit in Eau Claire, WI. I was selected to have a solo exhibit in 2012 at the Great River Road Visitor & Learning Center, Prescott, WI. I have participated in numerous exhibits 2009 to present at Wings Over Alma, Art and Nature Center, Alma, WI. An earlier honor in 1985 was being selected to paint the official portrait of Archie Mosay, Traditional Chief of Chippewa Band of Ojibway.
