Award-winning photographer Steven Paul Hlavac grew up on Long Island, New York. He studied photography and graphic arts at the University of Buffalo and at Florida State University in Tallahassee, receiving his BA degree in Art from FSU. Steven opened his first photo studio in 1986 at what is now Art Center South Florida in the Lincoln Road Arts District of South Beach (Miami). Within several years, Steven began exhibiting his artwork on a regular basis, at the same time running a commercial photo studio. He quickly gained a reputation as an emerging artist as well as a creative fashion, portrait, and nightlife photographer.

Steven's first published work was as a photojournalist for Miami's alternative weekly newspaper, New Times. He has also shot in South Florida for such magazines as Ocean Drive, Fashion Spectrum, Miami Metro, and Haut Decor. His work has appeared nationally in Women's Wear Daily, Vogue EspaƱa, Panache, Metropolis, and International Cosmopolitan magazines. Among his corporate clients are Dollar Rent-A-Car, Clairol Cosmetics, MCM, The Hard Rock Cafe, and Planet Hollywood.

A group of Steven's stylized photos of South Beach scenes were chosen to decorate one of the bedrooms in the Real World Miami house during the shooting of the popular MTV television series. He was also commissioned by supermodel Cindy Crawford to photograph Miami locations from her movie Fair Game, the portfolio of original artwork given to co-star William Baldwin as a gift.

Steven now lives in Mount Dora, Florida, and continues to work the Central and South Florida markets. Still involved in fashion and portrait work, he also devotes time to digital imaging, including web graphics and computer-enhanced photographic art and illustration.

Steven Hlavac joined Fine Art America on April 21st, 2010.
