Subbora Jackson Artist Bio

Subbora grew up in the artistically diverse city of Washington, D.C. where she was inspired to create works that caused interactions between people and her art pieces. In many of her visits to the Smithsonian, Corcoran, and Metropolitan Museum’s she observed art viewers generally going from painting to painting and spending a little time with each. Subbora wanted to create interactive work that would get reactions from a diverse audience. Art evokes emotion and when viewed twice or in different directions, this work could have many interpretations while engaging people in conversation.

Subbora’s exhibitions include: Arts Work Gallery, City Stage, Kwanzaa Festivals, Black Business Expo, Various Cultural Center events, Perks Coffee Shop, June teenth Celebrations. Subbora’s work has also been part of numerous North Carolina A & T events including the Chancellors’ Instillation, solo exhibitions at The Women’s Resource Center, and the Winston Salem Transit Authority. Her pieces have also been featured on the cover of Winston Salem Journal and Freeform Magazine. Signature Grand, City of Lauderhill, 1310 Gallery, Art Serve, Art Institute, Quantum Town Center, Pompano Mall and Miami Venues are Subbora’s most recent Backdrops.

Subbora was exposed to art at an early age by her family who continuously supports her. She is grateful to the creator for her talents. She is also very appreciative of her grandmother who cultivated her interest in art by having Subbora attend a variety of art camps, art programs. She also attended the Bureau College of Art where she created her first oil painting at age 16 with her grandmother’s encouragement. Subbora went on to create over 300 original pieces throughout her college experience at North Carolina A&T State University. While pursuing her Master’s, she instructed undergraduate courses in the school of technology at North Carolina A& T State University, these courses included Computer-Aided Drafting, Design, Architectural Design and Modeling. After earning her Master’s she accepted a Technology Education position teaching Inventions and Innovations, and Technology Systems. Subbora’s openness, enthusiasm, positive energy, and motivational skills had a profound effect upon many students.

Recently Subbora was featured in the Miami International Art and Celebrity Fashion show, Sun-Sentinel.com for Art in Public places and one of 24 artist selected to represent Florida in the Creative Capital Workshops. Currently, Subbora is freelancing, working with several nonprofits, doing green screen photos/videos and re-establishing Subbora’s Multimedia Gallery. She is also working on an animation and 2nd Masters in Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
