Twice each year, the farmstead invites artists from across Pennsylvania and beyond to commune with nature in the picturesque Big Valley. Centre County landscape artist Susan Nicholas Gephart, of Bellefonte, leads the spring and fall workshops in “Plein Air,” or outdoor, painting with fellow artist and instructor James Farrah. Life of an Artist Bellefonte woman recovers from injuries to show works with father. By Tom Lavis (Johnstown) Tribune Democrat- Centre Daily Times- January 19, 2007 Susan Nicholas Gephart’s latest exhibit could be considered bittersweet. The Bellefonte artist has collaborated with her 80-year-old-father, Thomas C. Nicholas Jr., to mount “Landscape Passages: A Father and Daughter Retrospective” at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Loretto, Cambria County. The show was originally scheduled for 2002, but a tragic farm tractor accident left a fellow artist dead and Gephart seriously injured. David Hopkins, a landscape painter, left behind a teenage daughter.
