Co. DONEGAL...images

Donegal, the most northly county in Ireland, extends along much of the north west coast. It is a region famous for its scenery, with a beautiful much indented coast, great areas of mountain, deep glens and many lakes. All kinds of rock, from cave riddled limestone to complicated mixtures of igneous rocks, make up the foudations of the county; and it is this which gives so much variety of form and colour to the scenery. There are many important antiquities and historic sites in the county, and the island retreat of Lough Derg, with its famous pilgrimage, is one of Ireland's celebrated holy places. The whole county is a splendid natural holiday-land. Whether you seek health and gaiety in one of its many coastal resorts, take a rod among the highlands, or climb, walk or travel by road over the county, Donegal will cast her spell on you and will draw you irresistibly back. . Visit Ardara for a pint in Nancys, Ramelton, Errigal, Muckish, Tory Island and more.................
